To enable and/or enhance the functionalities of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), vehicle manufacturers want to access and use the information provided by navigation systems such as map data, vehicle position, and speed. Today, however, navigation map databases are only accessible to navigation applications and stored in the proprietary format of the navigation system. In order for ADAS applications to access this data, an appropriate information exchange interface must be defined. This is the overall aim of the ADASIS Forum.

The AUTOSAR partnership is an alliance of OEM manufacturers, Tier 1 automotive suppliers, semiconductor manufactures, software suppliers, tool suppliers and others. Considering the different automotive E/E architectures in the current and future markets, the partnership established a de-facto open industry standard for an automotive software architecture. The mission of the Enabling Linux In Safety Applications (ELISA) project is to make it easier for companies to build and certify Linux-based safety-critical applications – systems whose failure could result in loss of human life, significant property damage or environmental damage. The Navigation Data Standard (NDS) is a standardized format for automotive-grade navigation databases. Furthermore, it is a registered association with the vision of providing a leading worldwide map standard for automotive-grade use. The NDS Association consists of car manufacturers, application/compiler developers, and map and service providers. EB is not only involved in the association as a member, but the association’s chairman, our Executive Vice President Martin Schleicher, also comes from the EB family.

The European Processor Initiative (EPI) aims to deliver a high-performance, low-power processor that implements vector instructions and specific accelerators with high-bandwidth memory access. The EPI processor will also meet high security and safety requirements.

Providentia++ is testing and researching the interaction between autonomous vehicles and the infrastructure in complex traffic on highways and in a city.

The QuantumRISC project aims to investigate post-quantum cryptography (PQC) for resource-constrained embedded systems and to bring embedded PQC from theory into practice. One goal of the project is to optimize PQC primitives for both low-power consumption and low-storage requirements while maintaining a high level of security.

In the RISE project, researchers are examining low-redundancy system architectures and engineering methods for distributed real-time systems that guarantee a high degree of safety as an alternative to conventional, multi-channel redundancy solutions that are unsuitable for cost-sensitive markets such as vehicle manufacturing.
